resulting in a different profile. A coffee machine is the result of the work of a project team of several people that are working together to create equipment that will give a new experience to the baristas that will use it. The more we understand the needs of the market from the barista to the roasters, the more we can create a pleasant experience. SA: Why do you enjoy judging barista competitions? LF: I find that judging is a way for me to support the baristas and [help the] competitions to grow and expand in the world. The WBC is the premier platform of barista competitions in the world and [being the official espresso machine sponsor of the WBC since 2009 has given] Nuova Simonelli the chance to have the best baristas in the world practicing on our machines and knowing our company. We have had fantastic feedback from these baristas [that we use] to improve and develop our products for the next championship, and also for the day-to-day work in a coffee shop. SA: The 2014 WBC will be held in Rimini, Italy. What do you hope international visitors will learn about Italian coffee culture? LF: I'm definitely excited about WBC in Rimini 2014 because this will be an amazing opportunity for all the coffee community to visit my country. I hope the international visitors will have the opportunity to visit our cities, our landscape, taste our food, our wine, and of course Italian coffees. Italian culture is so wide and rich that I'm sure they will be fascinated by it. www.baristamagazine.com 83
