50 barista magazine S T U F F : P R O D U C T S NEW LOOK, SAME FAMILY TRADITION Specialty-coffee roaster Mr. Espresso, a Bay Area–based family business founded in 1978, celebrated its 35th anniversar y last year with an updated logo and new packaging. The handsome gentleman on the Vespa is none other than company founder, Carlo DiRuocco, pictured riding his scooter near his hometown of Salerno, Italy, back in 1957. The DiRuocco children enlisted award-winning design firm Chen Design Associates to help them achieve a style that celebrates the company's storied histor y, while updating the look and feel for contemporar y tastes. COOL, COLORFUL CUPS Bored with plain colors and solid white cups? Ancap's annual artist's edition is an adventure into the abstract. This edizione from 2012, the Arlecchino, is named after and inspired by the color ful, patchwork appearance of jesters from Italian theater. The unique designs, each sporting Ancap's Edex "pinch" handle, come in a set of six espresso or cappuccino cups. IT'S BLOOMING BREWERS The Blossom Brewer is part of a new product categor y: precision coffee brewing. Operating in the gray area between pourover and batch brewing, the Blossom adds a level of accuracy to the brew process that allows the user to make a better-tasting cup of filter coffee faster and easier. The Blossom Brewer comple- ments UNIC's Stella di Caffé precision espresso machine in creating a Whole Bar experience. UNIC will reveal the Whole Bar concept that includes the latest model of the Blossom precision brewer at the SCAA Expo in Seattle, booth #12083.
