(Cashbox, p. 84) 2 Marcus Boni has had the sincere pleasure of being a member of the specialty-coffee community for the past 12 years and is extremely excited to be working with the team and guests at Kaldi's Coffee Roasters as vice president of retail operations and marketing. Before joining Kaldi's, Marcus was director of community development with the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA). At the SCAA, Marcus focused on developing and producing programs such as the United States Barista Championship, the U.S. Brewers Cup, the Barista Guild of America Barista Camp, and the World Barista Championship. Marcus holds bachelor's degrees in computer sciences and business management, and is a certified Kangoo fitness instructor. (Google it!) Marcus is a diehard Cubs fan, and has exactly one too many adopted animals with his husband, Tony. (Beautiful Coffee/ Beautiful Food, p. 72) 3 Christopher Chandler is a filmmaker and photographer living in Santa Cruz, Calif. His recent work includes short films for start-up design firms in Silicon Valley, lifestyle pieces for individuals, and multimedia content for Verve Coffee Roasters. His portfolio can be seen at www. christopherandcompany.co. When he's not behind bar at Berkeley's most ambrosial joint, Bartavelle, you may find him prowling street corners on his skateboard and shooting photographs along the way. See more of Evan's photography at www.evancollisson.com.(Photography for Beautiful Coffee/ Beautiful Food, p. 75) 5 When you're at BARISTA in Portland, Ore., and you see that guy with the ever-changing Packers hats who's always running around with cupping bowls and coffee samples, you've found Brett Felchner. Brett is the coffee buyer and trainer at BARISTA and is always wanting to talk to you about coffee and/or make you some coffee. Yes, you'll have to endure discussions of what record he just bought or how the Packers are doing, but he'll make you laugh and treat you to some damn fine coffee. (Mix Tape, p. 98) 6 Alexander Ruas shares his Creative Coffee Consulting offices with Drop Coffee in Stockholm, Sweden. His list of accomplishments includes winning the Swedish Barista Championship in 2011, working in research and development for Drop Coffee, and coaching the Swedish National Barista Team, among others. She quickly found out she's much better at explaining latte art than algebra, and has been teaching people about and making coffee at shops all over New York City ever since. At any given time, she's probably doing a crossword puzzle or making her friends watch the movie Clue .
