P U L L : E V E N T S CAFÉ IMPORTS' LEGENDARY COFFEE-PRODUCER TOUR DELIVERS AN UNPRECEDENTED EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY BUILDING ON ITS REPUTATION as one of the best resources for exceptional coffee education, Café Imports produced a nationwide, open-to-all, free opportunity to meet and learn from some of the most celebrated coffee producers in the world, in late February. True to the name, this affair was legendary: Café Imports brought three families of coffee producers—Francesca Chacon and her 15-year- old son, Oscar, from Costa Rica's Finca Las Lajas; Finca Nueva Linda patriarch Juan José Miguel, and his son, also Juan José, who is implementing new practices to the family business; and Jacques Carneiro hailing from Carmo Coffees in Brazil. (Also scheduled to attend were Elkin Guzman and Jairo Ruiz from Banexport in Colombia, but visa issues prevented them from traveling.) The epic adventure began in the state of Washington, with all the producers arriving from their home countries and meeting up with a team from Café Imports led by Jessica Brotzler, Luis "Lucho" Arocha, Omar Herrera, Joe Marrocco, and Noah Namowicz. After a quick tour of Seattle, the producers were squired to Olympia Coffee Roasting in the state's capital for the first of three stops on the Legendary Coffee- Producer Tour. A capacity crowd gathered for the daylong event, and the Olympia Coffee Roasting staff graciously assisted with numerous coffee tastings.
