As I am reading the latest issue it strikes me that you guys are 'Champion Baristas of the Printed Page. ' Where a roaster sources coffee, you source people and ideas. Where a barista takes the coffee and obsesses over the details of the bar and the beverage, you all pore over the layout, the color, the feel, and the flow of information. Where a coffee bar provides a space for the customer to enjoy the fruits of our collective labor, Barista Magazine provides a space for all of us to enjoy the fruits of the coffee community and, like a neighborhood coffeehouse, helps to encourage, inspire and hold us together as colleagues in coffee. Thanks from all of us in specialty coffee for your craft. Chris Deferio Syracuse, New York I am still very much a 'green bean' when it comes to coffee. As a busy college student, I sadly don't have the time or means to partake in barista classes or invest in good quality equipment. My community lacks variety in regards to the brew, and is overrun by major corporate food giants; it would appear that the only things that matter around here are the products being cheap and fast, and the company making an easy profit which results in poor quality and taste. Much of the individuality that once was there is almost all gone. However, all is not as bad as it seems. Upon my discovery of Barista Magazine, I have been able to learn a great deal of information I would otherwise not have access to. Thank you for always putting care, effort and quality in both the content and exterior of Barista Magazine. With every volume, I am that much closer to fulfilling my dream of becoming a professional barista and opening my own coffee bar. I look forward to reading the next volume. Keep up the great work! Sonja Farrell Kingston, Ontario Canada Thank you for all the great articles! It's been almost two years since I started reading Barista Magazine, and every issue gives me a great deal of educational information and inspiration. It makes me love what I do as a barista and café owner even more! Thanks, guys!
