WORLD BARISTA CHAMPIONSHIP 2012 WBC Competitors Photos by Amanda Wilson The 50 National Barista Champions who gathered in Vienna, Austria, June 12–15 to compete for the title of 2012 World Barista Champion were indeed an impressive group. At the end of a two-day preliminary round, 12 baristas moved onto a semifi nal round. And just six baristas con- tinued on to the fi nal round. In the end, the Barista Champion of Guatemala, Raul Rodas—who placed second in the 2010 WBC—was crowned the victor. Raul will serve as an international barista ambassador throughout his year as WBC Champion, traveling the world to spread the message of specialty coff ee.
