PT's Coffee Roasting Co. wholesale accounts will be offered slots first, after which anyone can apply, with no qualifying events. How many competitors? There are 30 slots available. Rules: The Flatlanders Barista Cup is a group competition with 30 baristas divided into six teams of five. They will compete in several events, both individually and as a team, with a final score being tallied by a panel of judges on Sunday evening. 1st Event—Triangulation Cupping: There will be five sessions, during which one member from each team attempting to identify coffee flavor characteristics. 2nd Event—Latte Art Competition: A bracket-style competition with each barista competing individually for a first place prize, team score, and first choice of team seeding for the Sunday event. 20 barista magazine will get 15 minutes to present its blend with an espresso and a cappuccino for each member of a judges panel comprising the producers and a World Barista Champion. They will also be required to explain the composition of their blend and the process and reasons behind it. The winning team will be determined by a 2,000 point score sheet.
