Burundi from the Gahahe Washing Station. I later learned this coffee earned a prestigious 93 points from Coffee Review. I also recommend you get your mitts on Reunion's Ethiopia Sidama and the washed Gakenke Burundi. Hanging out at Reunion also afforded me the opportunity to finally meet Grant Gamble, director of marketing and eastern division for Vancouver-based importer Mountain Coffee. Grant lives in Toronto, and along with Mengo McCall and Lionel Robi- taille, founded the not-for-profit Beanstock Coffee Festival. Yeah, coffee is his job, but Grant isn't working when he tells you about all these amazing beans scattered throughout Toronto. It's his passion, it's his life. Fun side note: He looks a lot like Jon Snow, so for all you grieving Game of Thrones fans, head north and you will find "Jon" running around the Toronto streets in a black fedora and ripped jeans. I'll put this right out there: I've been to my fair share of coffee festivals and trade shows on four continents, and Beanstock is hands down the best I've ever attended, in large part because it truly reflects the Toronto coffee community. I had the opportuni- ty to meet lots of roasters and taste multiple coffees from each. After two days, I left with almost 20 pounds of specialty beans from more than 25 roasters (which is not nearly all of the ones at Beanstock). Perhaps the most important "get" for me from Beanstock was an introduction to several wonderful cafés and shops in Toronto. OK, I admit it: I love photos of dogs, crazy cats, and creative pourovers on Instagram, and that's pretty much how I found Jacked Up. Don't judge me—a coffee shop housed in a 1975 Cit- roen H Van? You would and should make a beeline there, too. The "Blue Monster" shop on wheels that used to cruise the streets of Toronto is now pretty much permanently housed in an atrium on Yorkville Avenue. Its popularity inspired owner Jack Provan to ex- pand the fl eet in June, and the second monster is parked on Hanna Avenue in Liberty Village. During my Jacked Up visit, I met the delightful barista Jazmin Rymberg. She made me a fantastic cortado using Jacked Up partner Cut Coffee, an amazing specialty small-batch roaster established in 2013. I made it home with a bag of Cut Coffee's Iygenga Co-op from Tanzania, a fully washed Bourbon chock-full of blackberry and cherry-cola notes.
