In the preliminary round, competitors participate in the "Spirit Bar" challenge, in which they must use a randomly selected spirit from a list of provided alcohols to make two identical drinks showcasing coffee and the alcohol, in six minutes. The second part of the preliminary round is the stage presentation in which competitors have 10 minutes to make two identical hot/warm coffee cocktails (their own choosing), and two cold coffee-and-alcohol (again, their own choice) drinks. In the fi nal round, competitors make two hot/warm or cold coffee-and-alcohol-based designer drinks, and two hot/warm Irish coffees.
