P U L L : E V E N T S WORLD CUP TASTERS CHAMPIONSHIP WORLD OF COFFEE BERLIN JUNE 6–8, 2019 PHOTOS BY KRISTAPS SELGA FOR WORLD COFFEE EVENTS Forty-fi ve cuppers came together in Berlin to compete in the 2019 World Cup Tasters Championship (WCTC), each having won their national title in their home countries. Due to the time restrictions, the WCTC is considered by many the most high-adrenaline of the coffee competitions. Over three days, cuppers face off against their peers eight at a time through round one, the quarterfi nal round, and the semifi nal round, and then the fi nal four compete in a fi nal round. Competitors are given eight minutes to assess eight triangulations. The cupper who identifi es the most "odd" cups from the eight sets is declared the winner. In the case of a tie (two or more competitors share the highest number of correctly identifi ed triangulations), the competitor with the shortest completion time wins.
