WELCOME TO THE FAMILY,
STRADA EE
La Marzocco's booth at the SCAA show in April was
slammed from dawn to dusk with baristas eager to
get their hands on the boutique espresso machine
company's latest release, the Strada EE. Marked
by a black side panel, the EE features traditional
semiautomatic brewing control in the barista-friendly
body of the Strada. Similar to the Strada MP and EP,
the EE group is paddle-operated. The mechanism
works a little differently though: As the Strada EE
paddle travels, a microswitch above the group cap
is turned on, engaging the electric solenoid and the
pump in the same way that other semiautomatics
operate. The EE also employs a two-stage,
programmable preinfusion process, allowing for
multiple groups to be in operation at the same time.

KRYO-TASTIC!
The Rancilio Group has just rolled out the Kr yo
65 OD. The patented Kr yo cooling system
in the grinding chamber reduces operating
temperatures, while the soft-touch control-
panel keypad allows three different doses to
be programmed: single, double, and custom.
Grinding is activated automatically by inserting
the portafilter or by using the start button on the
keypad. The large display allows clear viewing of
the grinder-doser operating status and reports
when the mills need to be replaced, and the Kr yo
OD measures total grams of coffee ground to
monitor daily consumption.
