One of Mark's biggest passions is build- ing connections within the greater barista community, whether it be through organizing raucous Victrola Smackdowns, or inviting anyone and everyone into the creative process of making better coffee. He's a rabid devourer of new music, gluten-free food, and small puppies. Follow him @markdpfaff. (One by One, p. 68) 10 Michael Phillips is a co-founder of Handsome Coffee Roasters (HCR) in Los Angeles. With globe-trotting put on hold for a minute, he can be found primarily at 582 Mateo Street in the Arts District of Los Angeles waiting for you to stop by so he can make you a drink. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill in January, Kelsey left the Triangle to work for Southern Living magazine in Birmingham, Ala., where she's making a home and continues to be awed by the South's distinct coffee culture. Kelsey likes early mornings and root vegetables, teaches spin classes and writes on fullcircleandco.com. (Pull, p. 22 ) 14 When Dan Streetman isn't practicing his many judging faces at a regional or the USBC, or serving as the Vice Chair for the Barista Guild of America's Executive Council, he passes the time as Director of Coffee for Irving Farm Coffee Roasters in New York, New York.
