TAKE AWAY Continued on page 20 "Opposites Extract" Debuts Coffee people have no shortage of opinions, and while social media like Twitter and Facebook are quick and easy ways to share a point of view, the results can sometimes be a little...ristretto. For anyone looking to pull more from the arguments on either side of various coffee-related debates, there's finally a podcast for that: Café Imports is debuting a brand-new regular show, "Opposites Extract: A Debate Podcast about Coffee." Using a debate-club-style format, Café Imports' Joe Marrocco and Meister face off against a guest debater each episode, with each participant arguing a side as determined by a random coin-toss. www.oppositesextract.com Can Do Austin, Texas–based Cuvée Coffee snagged the coveted Best Packaging Innovation of the Year for 2015 from industry authority BevNET for its killer Black & Blue nitro cans. Cuvée head honcho Mike McKim's love of coffee may only be matched by his love for beer, which is what inspired him to put his yummy nitro into fully recyclable aluminum. "I wanted to enjoy my coffee on the boat and at festivals the same way I was enjoying my beer," he says. "Cans can go so many places that bottles can't." www.cuveecoffee.com Keffa Opens Stylish New Space Specialty-coffee importer Keffa Coffee has some brand-spankin' new digs—and are they ever cool. The 4,000-square-foot facility, located in an historic Baltimore building, is tricked out with a state- of-the-art cupping lab, a Modbar, and a roasting room complete with three new Fuji Royal sample roasters. Says Keffa founder Samuel Demisse, "We are so excited to be able to offer our customers and all coffee aficionados this space to come and experience great coffee." www.keffacoffee.com PHOTO BY ANDY REILAND 18 barista magazine
