topic was chosen based on repeated requests, and the shameful fact that most of us have never read Danny Meyer's Setting the Table or Charlie Trotter's Lessons in Service. So while you may not live in San Francisco or Victoria, you can still read along with us, or better yet, take this idea and run with it. Start your own community event! The point of the Coffee Pro Book Club really isn't to choose a book, read it cover-to-cover, and then hash it over with a bunch of bored colleagues. The true spirit behind it is to learn from each other ESPRESSO MACHINE AS ART— WE KNEW THAT! The newly released Wega Concept Green Line espresso machine not only produces excellent espresso, but the machine also demonstrates how functional art and music can complement and influence each other. The espresso bar/art installation was featured at The Avant/Garde Diaries' Transmission LA: AV Club curated by the Beastie Boys' Mike D. Held at The Geffen Contemporary at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the multi-sensory festival highlighted the intricate relationship between art and music. This 17-day interdisciplinary festival, which ran from April 19 through May 6, featured the work of contemporary artists, musicians, designers, filmmakers, and chefs. Among the participating designers was Robert McKinley, the festival's artistic director and president of aesthetic development. His work includes the nightclubs GoldBar and Sant Ambroeus in New York, as well as The Surf Lodge and Ruschmeyers in Montauk, New York. McKinley created an experiential espresso bar/art installation featuring the Wega Concept Green Line espresso machine, an eco-friendly espresso machine boasting an exceptional design, clean lines and outstanding quality. The new Wega Concept design also incorporates an LED-lighting element around the perimeter of the machine, which can be synchronized with the users' favorite tunes. These features helped to show that unique relationship between functional art and music. "In addition to the science behind our development of the Wega Concept Green Line machine that creates the perfect cup of espresso, we also knew that the machine itself must be a thing of beauty, " says Tom Rolleri, National Sales Director at Wega USA. "We are honored that Robert McKinley, who began his design career behind the scenes at fashion house heavy-hitters Tommy Hilfiger, Donna Karan, and Giorgio Armani, saw this potential and was able to combine his avant garde artistic style with our revolutionary machine. " by sharing experiences, ideas, opinions, and resources in a thoughtful way. It's not often we have the opportunity to gather and discuss a topic for an uninterrupted hour and a half in an informal and fun way, and it's proven to be a fantastic community-building opportunity.
