I look forward to trying new coffees and developing blends. SA: What are your aspirations in coffee for the next five or 10 years? EMW: I am happy if I am in and around coffee and training and working with other like minded people. I'm very excited about the international licensing program the New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association has just signed up for with the SCAA. Education and learning is what we need here in New Zealand to keep the momentum and knowledge growing with the next generation of baristas and roasters. Also, I need to go to origin! Yes, that's right people, you can laugh at me. For all the years I have been in coffee I have yet to step foot on a coffee farm. I would like to travel more for work and would relish the opportunity to travel more with the WBC. In saying that, I think I do travel quite a bit! I need to go to origin! SA: A last, non-coffee question: what do you like to do when you're not working in coffee? EMW: I do have a tendency to live and breathe my work. I love my home base, Nelson, and my two cats, Freeloader and Frank, and of course spending time with my husband Phil.
