COMPETITIONS GALORE Some of the world's most decorated coffee competitors will attempt to earn top inter- national honors at the fi ve competitions taking place during the three days of the show: World Brewers Cup, World Latte Art Championship, World Coffee In Good Spirits Championship, World Cup Tasters Champion- ship, and the Cezve/Ibrik Championship. (The World Barista Championship takes place No- vember 9–12 in Seoul, South Korea.) But the competitions don't stop there: New Product of the Show awards will also be handed out for World of Coffee exhibitors that have intro- duced a new product or service to the market since June 2016, or will launch a new product at this year's show. 2. AN EXPANSIVE SHOW FLOOR The World of Coffee exhibition hall will feature over 200 of the world's most inno- vative coffee-industry suppliers showing off their latest products. Returning to the World of Coffee show fl oor will be The Village, an innovation-minded exhibition area showcasing state-of-the-art roasters, cutting-edge tech- nology, and representatives from Budapest's coffee scene. 3. LEADING VOICES AT RE:CO This year's World of Coffee Re:co—SCA's in- dustry symposium—will boast a new format: Instead of two days of plenary talks, Re:co Symposium will include one day of talks at Budapest's iconic Pesti Vigadó (taking place June 12), followed by three days of continued speaker engagement, sensory experiences, and more in an exclusive space at the World of Coffee exhibition. The theme of this year's World of Coffee Re:co is "Change and Oppor- tunity," and speakers will include food and beverage sensory expert Dr. Henry "Hoby" Wedler from the University of California, Da- vis; and Bronwen Percival, the cheese buyer and technical manager for Neal's Yard Dairy in London. The registration cost for Re:co in Budapest is €895 for Early Bird through May 1, and €1,095 after. 4. A PLACE TO FOCUS ON SUSTAINABILITY After debuting at the 2016 World of Coffee in Dublin, the Sustainability Forum will return to World of Coffee, offering a discussion platform for the economic, environmental, and social challenges that the industry faces.
