Available in June 2017. www.califiafarms.com Stuff Antoine Loves The 18-ounce Winco steaming pitcher I love stuff Antoine "Twizz" Franklin Barista Lead Greenway Coffee & Tea Houston, Texas Why do you love it? I have big hands and the handle is the most comfortable fit for these big ol' paws. I can pour well with smaller pitchers, but my flow seems to be a bit more free with it. The spout also has a pretty wide and indented lip which allows for better color infusion and contrast. Why is it particularly well suited to bar work? I like to think of it as a "tweener" pitcher! Meaning it's big enough for 12-ounce beverages and small enough for 8, 6, and even 5-ounce beverages. Which makes work flow a bit easier when quickly reaching for the next pitcher to pour with for the next beverage in line! What do your coworkers think about it? Hahaha. They don't really like it. It usually gets skipped over more than it gets used. Mostly because it's not good for any beverages above 12 ounces. How does it make your job as a barista easier and/or more enjoyable? I think any tool that allows you to be comfortable, and move freely/quickly while serving 10–30 guests at a time will always make work easier. I'm all about comfort in life! Anything else to say about it? This pitcher has very significant meaning to me. I took it to my first Coffee Fest ever in 2013, and have been using it ever since. Major shouts to my old stomping grounds (Phoenix Coffee) for such a cool parting gift, and to my new home (Greenway Coffee) for allowing me to have it on bar everyday! PHOTO BY JAKE SEBREN MONKEY BUSINESS Over the course of Cuvée Coffee buyers' travels through Brazil, they've come to know the Macaco monkey as a bit of a troublemaker. That's why it's the perfect namesake for Dois Macacos. This unique coffee takes everything you'd expect from a Brazilian bean, and turns it on its head. It is surprisingly complex and playful, serving as a reminder that the best surprises happen where you'd least expect them. For Cuvée, that's reason enough to keep searching the globe to see what kind of trouble they can get into next. See? The Macaco has taught them well. www.cuveecoffee.com WOW-WORTHY DESIGN The PKR 100 from Compak has incorporated the most advanced grinder features and technologies required by today's coffee professionals. With 98-millimeter specially designed high extraction burrs, a richer, sweeter, and more complex espresso emerges in the cup. Running at a cool 350 RPM burr speed, a "slow and cold" grind is maintained even during heavy usage. Also, an improved coffee exit distribution system incorporating a rotary clump crusher and ground distribution needle ensures optimal coffee distribution in the portafilter, and a more consistent extraction. Finally, Compak's exclusive Grind by Weight technology allows for improved consistency, and shot accuracy to help streamline barista work flow. www.compakgrinders.com 76 barista magazine
