JORDAN SANCHEZ AWAY TAKE Coloring Coffee The once-niche fad of adult coloring books has grown into a full-on movement, but you can only color geometric patterns and fl ower variations for so long, especially when you've got your mind on coffee—which we all do, pretty much all of the time. That's why Sacramento, Calif.–based artist Ryan Morris created The Craft Coffee Coloring Book for all us nerds who want to get their relax on coloring in roasters, espresso machines, and latte art, while maybe learning something new at the same time. "The idea for the coloring book came from spending a lot of time in the Sacramento craft coffee [community, where] there is a rich local history that always pushes up against big corporate coffee," says Ryan, who includes subject matter from the University of California at Davis Coffee Research Conference along with gorgeous line drawings of your favorite coffee tools. www.craftcoffeecoloringbook.com European Guild Camps Head to Poland Coffee professionals from all over the world will converge in Poznan, Poland, in early October for the hard work, huge fun, and great social and educational opportunities of the Specialty Coffee Association's Roaster Guild of Europe Camp (October 4–7), and the Barista Guild of Europe Camp (October 9–12). Campers will engage in hands-on workshops, gather for group lectures led by internationally renowned coffee authorities, work to- gether in small groups for team challenges, connect one-on-one with instructors and trainers, and socialize with their peers in creative activities, some serious and some just for laughs. You can register for the Barista Guild of Europe Camp at www.baristaguildofeurope.com, and for the Roaster Guild of Europe Camp at www.roasterguildofeurope.com. See you in Poland! www.sca.coffee The Definitive—and Downloadable—Atlas of Coffee in the DRC Two nonprofi t organizations passionate about ensuring Congo- lese coffee farmers see the greatest benefi t for their work—the Eastern Congo Initiative (ECI) and Elan RDC—have jointly created The Coffee Atlas: Eastern DNC, which is available to download at www.easterncongo.org. The atlas is broken down by eight producing regions in eastern Congo, and from there, each region section includes information about each cooperative, such as how many women work there, what washing station they use, the number of people living on the land, etc., along with human-interest stories compiled by ECI's on-the-ground team. "Socially conscious consumers can rest assured that ECI and Elan RDC are ensuring a gender-equitable and transparent supply chain," says Martin Royle, ECI's communications man- ager. "The Coffee Atlas is a big part of that work." www.easterncongo.org 18 barista magazine
