More than 10,000 people from dozens of countries a ended to source products, meet with partners, socialize, and compete in a variety of coff ee contests. Here are snapshots of some of the event's most memorable moments. Hailing from Equator Coff ees and Teas in the San Francisco Bay Area, Emmeline Wang earned a spot in the fi nal round of the United States Brewers Cup. People say this annual conference is like a coff ee-family reunion, and that's true, though whose family is as geeked-out about coff ee every minute of every day as these folks? While the enormous trade show took place one fl oor below, the Roaster Village and coff ee competition stages occupied a space that felt more festival than expo, with time spent in engaged conversations, focused on the tense moments of competition, and catching up with old friends. Cole McBride (le ) and T. Ben Fischer embrace as their names are announced as fi rst- and second-place in the United States Barista Championship. The friendship and show of support for fellow contenders is one of the things that makes these coff ee competitions great. 26 barista magazine
